Bust view of Henry Augustus Jewell wearing a coat with dark lapels, vest, white shirt and bow tie. Hanry A. Jewell was born in Geen County, WI on November 7, 1843. Son of Henry Chapin Jewell; wealthy Oshkosh lumberman, Mayor of Oshkosh, and state congressman who came to Wisconsin in 1843 and Oshkosh in 1852. He married Coraline Wickwire on May 14, 1867. His sister was Mary Eleanor Jewell Sawyer, wife of Edgar Philetus Sawyer. They had three children; Mrs. C. D. Cleveland, Mrs. R. C. Brown, jr., and Edgar W. Jewell. He managed Jewell, Lawrence & Company Lumber with his father; Hollister-Jewell Company Lumber; Wisconsin Land & Lumber Co.; and Sawyer Cattle Company in Tom Green County Texas. Died June 7, 1911. |
