Photographic print of Reverend John R. Jones wearing a dark suit and bow tie. He wears a long goatee. Jones was born in Hendref, Wales and came to America with his parents, Owen G. and Ellen Joens in 1847. The family settled in Welsh Praire, Wisconsin. He married Margaret Jones on February 12, 1870, but she died on July 29 that same year. his second wife was Catherine Roberts. He was a well known poet and author in Welsh language publications; ordained as a minister in 1885 and pastored at Bethesda Welsh Calvinistic Methodist Church in Nekimi, Wisconsin from 1881-1890.
