We're a great community resource and depend on help from people just like you. If you love history, natural sciences, or art, or just enjoy the great atmosphere of museums and like to meet and work with people, we invite you to contact us.
The volunteer program is vital and growing part of museum operations. Volunteers work as docents and help answer visitor questions or lead school groups on an exciting tour of discovery. Volunteers receive training, printed information, and can observe until they feel ready to commit to tours. We also need volunteers to work on special projects from time to time. Follow the link to the volunteer page.
If behind-the-scenes work is more to your liking, we have limited openings for help with collections, working with the archivist, curator, or registrar. Cataloging collections requires a commitment of time due to the training involved. For more information, contact the registrar Joan Lloyd.
We accept a limited number of college level interns each semester. Most internships are set up one semester ahead, so we strongly suggest you contact the museum and your advisor well in advance of when you are interested in interning. Contact the assistant director for further information: Michael Breza.
The Auxiliary is a great group of men and women who are interested in helping support the museum. They meet once a month for fellowship and programs on a wide range of subjects, from history to art to antiques. The Auxiliary supports the museum in many ways and has fun doing it! You can also become involved through the Membership Program. Follow this link to the membership page.
Serving on the Museum Board is another way to channel your enthusiasm, experience, and interests and help the museum grow. The board consists of seven members, along with two alternates. Board members must live within the city limits of Oshkosh. To apply, contact the City Manager's office at
Jackie Challis. If you would like to know more about board responsibilities, contact the museum director at Brad Larson.
