The Oshkosh Public Museum archives hold thousands of primary and secondary documents and historic photographs. This amazingly rich resource is available to researchers by appointment.
What's available:
- More than 80,000 archival records including diaries, letters, scrapbooks,
ledgers, manuscripts, and social and industrial records. - Approximately 46,000 historic photographs, including collections by
women photographers. - A library of more the 1,300 volumes on state and local history.
A few important things to know:
- The archives are open to researchers by appointment only. Please call the archivist about 2 weeks before your visit to set up an appointment.
- The archivist is available Monday through Friday, 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Due to the rare or fragile nature of archival materials, the museum does not loan items and materials must be used under the guidance of the museum archivist.
- For more than 150 years cameras have been capturing great moments and everyday events in this area. Now you have an opportunity to buy copies from over 40,000 photographs in the museum's archives.
Prices for black and white, resin-coated paper photographic duplication are:

11" x 14" $40.00
16" x 20" $50.00
20" x 24" $60.00
Scans - $20.00 for the first scan with CD, $7.50 for each additional scan. Museum Members enjoy a discount on the above prices. Prices are $12.50 higher if a negative is not on file.
