Notes Image of two heroes of the Battle of Guadalcanal during the 3rd War Loan Bond Drive. At center is Petty Officer Shelby Dupree Pitts (US Navy Public Relations Officer); left Sergeant Edward F. Long; and right Private Claire Hume, both of the 1st Marine Corps Division. Hume alone was credited with killing sixty-five Japanese soldiers.
