Homemade. Gold with twisted fringes; one side picture of 3 houses, other side man and woman on horse.
Per donor, she made ornaments like this because she could not buy good ornaments or lights as they were not yet in production as it was just after World War II. She made the ornaments from the lids of tin cans. She said that peach cans were the best because they were prettier and cut better than other cans. She cut pictures from Christmas cards and glued them to the tin ornaments. Donor said she learned how to make these ornaments from Sheriff Neubauer's wife. |
