Description Painted steel Soviet Army helmet from World War II with 7/8" wide cotton chin strap with aluminum end tab and pressed steel buckle. Cotton and felt inner intact, complete with twine drawstring through inner cotton liner. Helmet is painted green with red stencilled Soviet insignia on the front consisting of red star with hammer and sickle in center. Inside rear of helmet stencilled: "POCT 2 1939 D" and "721" Inside rim stamped: "2 2379." Paint loss on exterior due to general wear and tear.

Original catalog card: Found at Berchetsgarten, in the S.S. barracks at Hitler's stronghold, Bavaria, Germany.
In 2002, the donor told Brad Larson that he was an American soldier in Germany in 1945 and acquired this helmet from a Russian soldier near Pilzen.
