Description WAVES Officer's Summer Coat: white cotton material; four plastic US Navy buttons; cuff sleeves decorated with officer's blue band and applied blue and white embroidered stars (lieutenant); collar decorated with applied embroidered emblem of blue propellor overlaid with light blue anchor; two false front pockets; four blue plastic enlisted buttons on front; Inside collar label, white with blue print: CORINNE L. HUBBARD; Inside lapel label, light blye with blue print: MADE AND SOLD UNDER/AUTHORITY OF U.S. NAVY/W.A.V.E.S.
Corrine Hubbard was born in Minneapolis, MN on March 6, 1913. During World War II she served in the WAVES 1943-45 and held the rank of Lieutenant. She graduated from UWM with a BA; Stanford University with a MA; and Drexel University with a MSLS. She was a librarian at Polk Library UWO for many years. She married Harry Spoo June 21, 1958. He died September 14, 1978. She died October 24, 2003.
