Description US Navy Commission Pennant: Cotton bunting in red and white stripes; blue canton with seven stars on each side; white reinforcement with brass grommet on end; each star is autographed on one side, other side has four names: Dan Hunts, A.W. Silverstein, F.A. Ferris Jr., Ken Miller, Jim Wright; stenciled: "No. 6".

Nile W. Roeder was born in Oshkosh, WI on November 11, 1917. He served in the United States Navy during World War II and served on a destroyer doing convoy and antisubmarine duty. He rose to the rank of Lieutenant Commander. He married Lois R. Mathwig on October 5, 1946. He graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh, and worked at the Continental Clothing Company for 43 years. He died in Oshkosh, WI in June 1979.
