US Navy Officer's Summer Service Coat: khaki cotton material; no buttons or insignia present; four pockets on front with flaps; loops on shoulders for attachment of officer's shoulder tabs. Marked on inside: "MR. ___/DATE___/NO. 9913-29/L__W__B__/MARSHALL FIELD/COMPANY/THE STORE FOR MEN CHICAGO/ 4715R/7158R/9715-R/PC 481." Nile W. Roeder was born in Oshkosh, WI on November 11, 1917. He served in the United States Navy during World War II and served on a destroyer doing convoy and antisubmarine duty. He rose to the rank of Lieutenant Commander. He married Lois R. Mathwig on October 5, 1946. He graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh, and worked at the Continental Clothing Company for 43 years. He died in Oshkosh, WI in June 1979.
