Abstract Letter from Lieutenant Wilbur E. Witte, United States Army Air Force to Reverend John E. Elbert.

Sunday nite
May 28th, '44

Dear Reverend Elbert,

I'm stationed down here at Bergstrom Field, Austin, Texas now. The Troop Carrier Command has a station here. I'm connected with training plane crews on the type of equipment I've been working with for some time. Looks like though I got out of the technical training command I'm still connected with training others…

We had a maneuver with planes and gliders at a spot 200 miles from here the other nite. I had a job on the ground and was flown up there with a Jeep and some equipment before the maneuver. I sure wouldn't like to be in one of those gliders at nite. It's pretty hazardous since the glider pilot can look for a landing spot just once…

Yours truly,
Wilbur Witte
