Letter from Corporal Ervin E. Lemke, 88th Fighter Squadron, Army Air Force, to his sister, Ellen D. Lemke, in Oshkosh, WI. [Return Address on envelope:] Corp. Ervin E. Lempke 88th Fighter Sqd. Farmingdale, L[ong] Is., New York Nov. 23, 1942 Dear Sis: I'm very sorry that I haven't been answering all your letters but today is my day off so I thought I had better drop you a few lines. How are you anyway? Has Oshkosh changed any since I left or not, you know it's been just about a year now since I enlisted in the Army. You know I sorta miss the old home town. Say by the way eat enough turkey and celebrate enough right away for me also this Thanksgiving, cause I won't get the chance it is going to be just another work day for me. Oh yeah I hope that you have a swell Christmas also. I suppose for me it will be just like last year, work right though the day. Are you working as yet or not. I hope you get a good job. Say if you got lots of time and don't know what to do with it please write to me more often even if I don't get around to answer all your letters cause I'm kept quite busy and I really don't get much time to write cause you know that we are in a war and us guys are doing our best to win this war and we can't win it by writing letters all the time. Have you seen Dad lately or not if you see him tell him to write to me. And if you see anything of Ray or Alice tell them to write to me once in awhile or if you know their address give it to me so I can drop them a line. Have you had any snow in Oshkosh as yet or has it been to warm to snow. We haven't had any here as yet but its pretty cold up here now and it rains once in a while. Well Sis there isn't much more I can think to write about for this time but I'm positive that I won't leave you wait so long next time. Oh yeah! I finally made it again and this time I'm going to try my best to keep the rating. I'm a corporal at last. Well Sis will say so long for the time being but I'll be looking forward to a nice long letter from you very soon. Your Kid Brother Love Ervin P.S. Write Soon.
