Postcard from Staff Sergeant William C. Getchius, United States Army Air Force, to his mother, Barbara Getchius in Oshkosh. Japanese forces in the Philippines captured William in the spring of 1942. His mother did not receive notice of his capture until May 6, 1943. He died of an intestinal disorder on a Japanese transport ship from Luzon, Philippines to Japan on January 28, 1945.
