Letter from Staff Sergeant Ralph J. Kirsch, Army Air Force, to his parents, Wallace J. and Elizabeth M. Kirsch, in Oshkosh, WI, from somewhere in the Pacific. 11-23-43 Dear Mom, Dad & all, How's everybody? It's been quite a while since I wrote, hasn't it? I'm sorry, but in the heat one just doesn't care to do anything. I know Ruth [his wife] is disappointed too, but maybe some day I'll be able to make it up to all of you. I owe everybody a letter. I only wrote one letter since I'm here, and that was to Ruth. Yippee! I just got two letters. One from Ruth and one from Bill Fritschl. Those are the first letters I got in about a week. Oh, maybe you don't know that we moved. We're in a different outfit, and I'm glad of that. This outfit is really in the war. We made a [censored and cut out]. That's all I can say about it. [Censored and cut out.] The chow here is a little better, and am I glad of that. We even got an ice box. Ain't that something? We get a shot of whiskey too after a mission, and don't think that doesn't go down good. Come to think of it, Thanksgiving is almost here again. Maybe we'll have turkey. We can hope, can't we? Have you heard from Leo lately? They sure aren't wasting any time with him are they? This isn't much of a letter, but I want you to get my new address. There's too much excitement at the moment anyway, to be writing- Bye bye now Lots of love, Ralph S/Sgt. 75th Bomb Sqdn. A.P.O. 709-2 c/o P.M. San Francisco, Calif.
