Telegram concerning Farrell Bernard Finan, sent to his parents, Chester T. and Elsie Finan, in Oshkosh. Western Union Telegram Priority Mrs. Chester Finan= Oct. 23 1943 236 High St (report delivery- Oshkosh Wis. Deeply regret to inform you that your son Farrell Begnard [Bernard] Finan Sic failed to survive injury sustained in airplane crash he died today October 23 at 1220 PM and did not suffer pain as death was instantaneous any arrangements you wish will be made for his burial please wire Commanding Officer Naval Air Station Verobeach Florida whether you desire body interred in Naval or National Cemetery or sent home escort of one person to accompany remains home will be furnished if requested burial can be made by Navy with full military honors at a cemetery here or forwarded to any National cemetery you designate if sent home expenses of preparation encasement and transportation will be prepaid and reasonable necessary funeral expenses not exceeding fifty dollars reimbursed on application the Bureau of Medicine and Surgery Navy Department Washington DC if you desire that the body be sent home we strongly recommend that you request in your reply an escort to accompany remains sincere sympathy is extended to you in your great loss= Commanding Officers NAS Verobeach.
