Cut out image from a group photograph showing the bust of Robert George Litke, United States Navy. Robert George Litke was the son of Benjamin H. Litke of Oshkosh, WI. He enlisted in the US Navy in June 1940. He served for two years in the Pacific Theater on board a seaplane tender and later on the escort carrier USS Liscome Bay. In June 1943 he was married in Los Angeles, CA. His ship was torpedoed and sunk by a Japanese submarine on November 24, 1943 near the Gilbert Islands. He was listed as Missing in Action in December 1943. |
