Elton Warren Timmerman and his twin brother Everett were born October 22, 1922 in Nekimi, WI. He attended Lincoln School in Oshkosh as a boy. He joined the Marine Corps on June 6, 1944 and did his basic training in San Diego, CA. He shipped out to the Pacific Theater in November 1944. He was killed in action on the island of Iwo Jima on March 7, 1945 while serving in the 4th Marine Division. His body was returned to the United States on the transport ship "Walter W. Schwenk" at Oakland, CA in April 1948. His body was reinterred in Oshkosh.
