John M. Dowlaszewicz was born March 9, 1920 in Oshkosh, WI, the son of Louis J. and Rose Dowlaszewicz. He graduated from Oshkosh High School in January 1939. He was working for the Oshkosh Trunk Company when he enlisted in the army on September 23, 1941. He trained at Fort Sheridan, IL and was sent to the quartermaster school at Fort Francis Warren, Wyoming and Camp Robinson, Arkansas. He left for overseas duty on November 1, 1942. He served in the North African Campaign, Sicily, and at Anzio, Italy. He died of wounds received in battle on February 9, 1944.
