Edwin Luebke was born in Eldorado, WI on October 23, 1906, the son of Fred Luebke. He spent most of his time on the family farm near Nekimi and worked in Oshkosh at the Winnebago Auto Company. He married Olga Mellentine in Oshkosh on January 6, 1941. He was called to active service on February 24, 1941 and was released on November 16, 1942 as overage. He was recalled to active duty on February 13, 1942 and trained at Ford Ord, California and Fort Lewis, Washington. He was a member of Company E, 10th Engineer Regiment and saw service in North Africa and Sicily. He was killed in action near Anzio, Italy on March 6, 1944.
