Staff Sergeant Dale S. Walter was born August 6, 1917 in Oshkosh, WI, the son of Joseph C. and Beatrice M. Walter. He graduated from Oshkosh high School and was a tool designer at Wisconsin Axle Company. He enlisted for service in the Army Air Force on March 27, 1942. He left the states on December 11, 1942 and arrived in North Africa on December 24, 1942. He was assigned to the Headquarters Squadron, 17th Bombardment Group. He had flown on a number of bombing missions when he was killed in action on September 15, 1943. He was buried in the American Cemetery in Tunis. No details of how he died were given.
