Bust view of Robert J. Tadych. He is wearing his service uniform with 1st Division patch on his left shoulder and garrison cap. Robert J. Tadych was born December 13, 1911 in Oshkosh, WI, son of Mr. and Mrs. George Tadych. He graduated from Oshkosh High School and worked for Kinney Shoe Company and J. C. Penney. He moved to Waukesha, WI where he met and married Joyce Atkinson in July 1937. She drowned in an accident on July 4, 1943. He briefly served in the 32nd Division, Wisconsin National Guard. He was drafted in April 1943 and was assigned to the 1st "Big Red 1" Division. He was wounded in France on June 12, 1944 and shipped to England. He returned to his regiment three weeks later and was killed in action August 14, 1944 |
