Johnson is wearing an Army Air Force A-2 leather jacket with silver Gunners Qualification Badge on his left breast; white silk scarf; and enlisted man's service hat. Stanley Johnson was born in Oshkosh in 1923, worked as a welder on the west coast; worked in a shipyard in Seattle; returned to Oshkosh and was drafted in 1943; entered the Army Air Corps; trained as a ball-turret gunner; with the 8th Army Air Force in England; flew numerous missions in a B-24. |
