Bust view of Cadet Louis Schriber II at age 16. He is wearing his cadet uniform for Shattuck Military Academy in Fairebult, MN. Louis Schriber II was born in Oshkosh, WI on October 13, 1920, the son of Rufus and Marion Morgan Schriber. He graduated from Shattuck Military Academy in Fairebult, MN circa 1938. He enlisted in June 1942 in the US Army Air Force. He was assigned to the 80th Fighter Squadron "Head Hunters", 5th Army Air Force from April 1943 to April 1945. He flew P-38 "Lightings" in the Pacific Theater. He was credited with 8 confirmed kills and had three possibles. He was awarded 3 Presidential Unit citations; Silver Star; 2 Distinguished Flying Crosses; 8 Air Medals; and 6 Campaign stars. He was discharged in late 1945 as a Captain. He passed away on December 8, 2003. |
