Studio portrait of Jessica Ann Davis (later Stigman) wearing her Army Nurse Corps uniform (see uniform in curatorial department). She wears the regulation uniform skirt and tunic with one overseas stipe (6 months in Europe), World War I Victory ribbon bar above left pocket, Base Hospital patch on left shoulder, and "U.S." and Cadeuses pins on collars. She is also wearing the regulation brimmed hat. Jessica Ann Davis was born in Omro, Wis. in 1890. According to her death certificate she moved to Rockford, Ill. in 1912. She attended nursing school at the Rockford Hospital Training School and graduated on June 11, 1918. On July 1, 1918 joined the Army Nurse Corp. She was stationed at the Base Hospital at Camp Grant, in Rockford, IL, and served at Camp Hospital No. 52 in Le Mans, France. She received her discharge on June 20, 1919. She worked as a nurse in Rockford, Ill until her retirement in 1959. She married a man by the name of Stigman some time after 1930. He preceded her in death. She died June 14, 1964. |
