Description Beret: French horizon blue wool body with cotton lining; gilt brass "22" pinned to front. Worn by members of the Army of the Czecho-Slavs in France (Czech Legion).

Frank Frederick Chalupa was born January 6, 1878 (or 1879) in Prague's quarter called Smichove, Bohemia; immigrated to United States (Oshkosh, WI) in 1910; during World War I, he was a sergeant, 22nd Regiment, 2nd Company, Czechoslovakian Division of the French Army also known as the Czech Legion. After the war he was interpreter for the Red Cross in Bohemia (Czechoslovakia); a founding member of the Order of the Sumava District #255 (Western Bohemian Fraternal Association) in Oshkosh, WI; died September 2, 1938 from bladder problems.
