Coat: French horizon blue wool; two lower pockets with flaps; white cotton lining, handwritten inside "Frank Chalupa Sergeant Comp/20 Reg"; fold down collar with dark blue tips with red piping and gilt brass Czech emblem and "22"; five metal buttons on front with intertwined "C" and "S"; gold bullion hashmark on right sleeve cuff; sergeant's chevrons on left sleeve and one hashmark on cuff; shoulder loops with intertwined "C" and "S" (Czecho-Slavs) on blue cloth oval with red piping; two service ribbons and World War I victory ribbon on left breast. Breeches: French horizon blue wool; yellow trim on the pants; button fly; front pockets; belted back; dark blue at calf with button closure; and suspender buttons on waist. Frank Frederick Chalupa was born January 6, 1878 (or 1879) in Prague's quarter called Smichove, Bohemia; immigrated to United States (Oshkosh, WI) in 1910; during World War I, he was a sergeant, 22nd Regiment, 2nd Company, Czechoslovakian Division of the French Army; after the war he was interpreter for the Red Cross in Bohemia (Czechoslovakia); a founding member of the Order of the Sumava District #255 (Western Bohemian Fraternal Association) in Oshkosh, WI; died September 2, 1938 from bladder problems.
