Postcard forwarded through the American Red Cross from Private Lawrence Clark to Andrew Regnery concerning the details of the death of his son, James J. Regnery, Company B, Machine Gun battalion, 1st Brigade, 1st Division. attached to, SC411.10.11.3. Private Lawrence Clark May 19, 1918 American Red Cross Home Communication Service Paris Dear Sirs, Your letter of April 30th received of the request of the death & burial of James J. Regnery. Pvt Regnery was killed on the night of Feb. 9th at 7:30 while on duty at his gun by a piece of shell which entered his left shoulder in the back piercing his heart. He knew no pain. He was on duty about 2 hours when killed and was his second knight in the trenches. I took his remains to Mondrier where he was given a very nice burial on Feb. the 10th in the American Cemetery. may he rest in peace. Yours very truly, Pvt. L. R.
