Candid outdoor image by Sergeant John Matschi. The image shows Henry Kerbs, Company C, 150th Machine Gun Battalion, 42nd Division, at Camp Mills, New York. This soldier appears in the long roll photograph of Company C, but he is unidentied in the image. He is wearing a Model 1912 Uniform; campaign hat; pistol belt; bolo scabbard; and ammunition pouch marked, "150/M.G./3". Taken prior to their departure for France. Henry Kerbs was born December 27, 1897. He enlisted in Company F, 2nd Wisconsin National Guard on July 17, 1917. Company F became Company C, 150th Machine Gun Battalion, 42nd "Rainbow" Division in July 1917. He was present for every engagement with his company during World War I. He returned with them in April 1919 and reenlisted in the United States Army. He was assigned to the 151st Depot Brigade at Camp Devens, MA on April 30, 1919. |
