Identification Card; leatherette wallet containing an identification card for Corporal William Pechmann, Company C, 150th Machine Gun Battalion, A. E. F., France. It lists his next of kin as Jordan Pechmann of Oshkosh, WI. It also contains a card with "The Lord's Prayer", "The Angelical Saluation" and "An Act of Contrition" on one side and "PRAYER BEFORE A CRUCIFIX" on other side. The back panel, framed with decorated black leather and lined with purple cloth once held a crucifix (missing, impression evident) and a religious medal with raised image of Christ and lettering around perimeter "SACRED HEART OF JESUS HAVE MERCY ON US" on front and raised image of the Madonna and Child on reverse. William Pechmann was born June 20, 1894, the son of Jordan Pechmann. He enlisted in Company F, 2nd Wisconsin National Guard on March 1, 1914. He was assigned to Company C, 150th Machinegun Battalion on Augst 9, 1917. He was promoted to corporal on August 15, 1917. He was appointed Sergeant on September 26, 1918. He was killed in action on October 22, 1918 from severe shrapnel wounds during the Meuse-Argonne Campaign.
