Description 
German Model 1887 Haversack or Bread Bag: gray canvas construction; brown leather reinforcements; exterior flap; one interior divider; steel rings with detachable shoulder strap. Manufactured after 1915 when the color of the bags was changed, and before 1918. Brought home by Otto Suess as a souvenir. Otto Suess was born in Oshkosh, Wisconsin October 10, 1890. He worked as a shipping clerk prior to enlisting in Company F, 2nd Wisconsin National Guard. He transferred with the rest of the company to the US Army and was assigned to Company C, 150th Machine Gun Battalion. He was later assigned to the Headquarters Detachment. He was promoted to Private First Class and Corporal. He survived the war and returned April 28, 1919.
