Letter from Harvey Stich, Company C, 150th Machinegun Battalion, 42nd Division, to his sister-in-law. Some where in France Sept. 19, 1918 Dearest Sister in law, Received your last letter Sept. 17 the one you wrote Aug. 21, and I was very glad to hear from you that you were all enjoying perfect health. So you have heard that I was in the Hospital. Hilda tell the folks that I have not been in the Hospital. This war looks like it going to come to an end, but don't know when it will be, hope it will be soon. Hilda, I get all of your mail you write to me but you know we are busy here at the front. And once we were on our rest camp but a few days after we had to back up and move to the front again. And that was the time I wrote you that fast letter and I hope you got that letter so that you know how I am getting along. So I got a new mule again. I ain't got the old mule no more I got a new mule now. He is a little better than the other one. So you and Phyllis were up home had a 5 weeks vacation hope I could have that here, Phyllis must be a quite a girl already. I wrote to Carly a letter the 26 of Aug. and I hope I hear from him soon and hope he sends me a picture of himself. So you said that Carly is so anxious of going across. I think he [is] better where he is now. Well the Navy ain't doing any fighting. What does he want here in France? The men in the army is doing the work now. So this is all for today. So good bye and Good luck you all and Hope I see you Some days again From your brother Harvey Answer soon.
