Description 
World War I Victory Medal: rainbow colored silk ribbon; suspended from brass clasp with pin back; five brass campaign clasps attached to front of ribbon; bronze disk suspended at bottom with winged Victory; back reads: "The Great War for Civilization" and lists the countries involved. Adolph Castonia enlisted in Company F, 2nd Wisconsin National Guard in 1917. Company F, became Company C, 150th Machine Gun Battalion, 42nd Division during World War I. Because of his blacksmith experience making horseshoes, he was made Ferrier. He also drove ammunition wagons. He was able to speak French, and was often in demand of his comrades to act as an interpreter.
