Group photograph of five members of Company C, 150th Machine Gun Battalion. They are wearing M1917 Tunics and wool shirts. The only man identifiable is Otto Spaedtke (KIA); standing at center holding what appears to be a French flag. Otto Spaedtke was born in Oshkosh, WI on April 26, 1900, the son of Robert and Augusta Fremming Spaedtke. He became a member of Company C, 150th Machine Gun Battalion, 42nd "Rainbow" Division in 1917. Killed in action at Chateau-Thierry, July 30, 1918, by a machine gun bullet to the head. His body was returned to Oshkosh and interred at Riverside Cemetery, Lot 4, Block 159. |
