Description German Equipment Belt Buckle: brass rectangle with soldered nickel disk applied to front with "GOTT MIT UNS" (God With Us) across the top and German Imperial crown design in the center with a half wreath design on the bottom; steel rod with double tongue inside.

Brought home as a souvenir by John M. Scantleton. John M. Scantleton served as a surgeon in the Medical Corps of the 128th Infantry, 32nd Division, during World War I. He was awarded the Croix de Guerre Medal by the French Government.
