Description Identification Tags (Dog tags): aluminum disks; one hole punched through each near edge; stamped: "JOHN M. SCANTLETON/LIEUT. M. C./128 INF/U.S.A."; suspended from a leather cord.

John M. Scantleton served as a surgeon in the Medical Corps of the 128th Infantry, 32nd Division, during World War I. He was awarded the Croix de Guerre Medal by the French Government.
