Model 1910 Officer's Garrison Hat: wool crown with mohair trim at base; wire reinforcement in crown; officer's darkened bronze eagle pin in front; brown leather chin strap secured at sides with small darkened bronze eagle buttons; brown leather visor; interior lining and leather sweatband. John M. Scantleton served as a surgeon in the Medical Corps of the 128th Infantry, 32nd Division, during World War I. He was awarded the Croix de Guerre Medal by the French Government.
