Description Model 1889 Campaign Hat: drab colored fur felt construction with 5 1/2" inch crown; crown punched with ventilation holes in star pattern on each side of crown; 2 3/4" wide brim; drab colored silk grosgrain ribbon and bow around base of crown; and leather sweatband inside base of crown.

Used by Private Edward Getke, Company F, 2nd Wisconsin National Guard during the Spanish-American War. Edward Getke was born in Germany circa 1876. He enlisted in Company F, 2nd Wisconsin National Guard on July 3, 1897 at the age of 19 to serve for three years. He was a chair maker by profession and worked at the Buckstaff-Edwards Company.
