Description Model 1889 Campaign Hat: drab colored fur felt construction with 7" crown, pinched into a four creased "Montana Peak"; 2 3/4" wide brim; drab colored silk grosgrain ribbon and bow with bullet around base of crown; leather sweatband. The hat is unusually marked with stitching in front in large letters: "2 WIS/EM".

Used by Private Ernst Mueller, Company F, 2nd Wisconsin National Guard in Puerto Rico during the Spanish-American War.
