Description Spanish national flag: red ink printed cotton; two vertical red end stripes with Spanish seal of a crown over a coat of arms of two lions and two castles in opposite corners.

"This flag was brought back the United States by N. Richmond, a soldier, from Puerto Rico. It was found hanging from a staff in front of a grocery store." Norman S. Richmond served as a private in Company B, 2nd Wisconsin National Guard during the Spanish American War.
