Notes Bust view image of NOYES, Joshua Copp - Surg., 32nd Regiment, Wisconsin Volunteer Infantry. He wears a dark coat with GAR assistant post commander bar and label button. He wears a moustache.

Joshua was born in 1840. He resided at Fairwater, Fond du Lac County when he was commissioned as 2nd Assistant Surgeon of the above regiment on Dec. 9, 1863 and was promoted to 1st Assistant Surgeon on Oct. 19, 1864. Joshua was promoted to Surgeon on Feb. 1, 1865 and was mustered out on June 12, 1865. He was listed in 1868 as a physician boarding at 13 Washington Street in the city of Oshkosh, Winnebago County. Joshua was married in Winnebago County on Apr. 8, 1869 to Catherine C. Strong. She was born in 1850. Joshua is listed in the 1870 US Census as residing in the 4th Ward, City of Oshkosh as a physician. Listed with him are his wife and George B. Noyes, physician. Joshua was listed in the veteran section of the 1885 and 1895 Wisconsin State census at P.O. Oshkosh. He was listed in 1888 as a member of GAR Post #10 at Oshkosh. Joshua was listed in the 1890 federal census as residing at 65 Washington Street in Oshkosh. He died in 1904. Catherine, his widow, was listed in 1905 as residing at 65 Washington Street in Oshkosh. Helen and Miriam Noyes were also residing at that address. Dr. George B. Noyes (Jr.) also had his office at that address. Catherine died in 1933. She is buried with her husband in Oshkosh at Riverside Cemetery, Masonic Section, Block M. Daughter Helen Strong Noyes was born in 1870 and died in 1966. She is buried with her par-ents.
