Admin/Biog History	WALKER, Plummer S. - Pvt., Company K, 1st Regiment, Wisconsin Heavy Artillery Plummer was born circa 1835 at Whitfield, New Hampshire. He was listed in the 1860 federal census as a lumberman residing with the family of his brother Calvin W. Walker in the first ward of the city of Oshkosh, Winnebago County. Plummer listed his residence as Menasha, Winnebago County when he enlisted there on Sept. 8, 1864. At that time he was an unmarried lumberman. He was assigned as above and was mustered out on June 26, 1865.

Abstract	Letter from Plummer S. Walker, Company K, 1st Wisconsin Heavy Artillery, to his brother Fred. Camp Randall Madison, Wisconsin Sept 30th 1864 Dear Brother & Sister I take this opportunity of writing a few lines to you to let you know that I am well TC. I reiceved a letter from Caroline two or three days ago. They where all well at that time. She wrote me of your misfortune in loosing your little one. This world is full of troubles in some way or another. I feel very sorry for you. I have been here in camp two weeks yesterday morning. [I have] enlisted in Company K, 1st Heavy Artillery. Our company is about full, but we don't know when we will leave. We understand that our company will go to Washington and remain there. We have beef, bread and coffee, sometimes beans and soup. I hear that they are drafting in Green Bay, Wisconsin. I hope you are all right, but there would be a very small chance for me if I had not enlisted. I don't know that I am sorry that I enlisted. At any rate, I would not be if it was not for Caroline and the children. There is all kinds of people in camp here and three or four have been shot accidentally. There is some leaving every two or three days. I get a pass, most every day, to go out in the city, but can't get any furloughs yet to go home. You must write me as soon as you get this.
