Letter from Ai Rice, Company K, 11th Wisconsin Volunteer Infantry: Brashear, City La September 4, 1864 Dear friend, I received your letter yesterday and was glad to hear from you. I am not as well as I might be, but I hope these few lines will find you well. I have been sick as well all summer. I have had the chill fever every other day for along time. I have lost 22 pounds in two months. I have written to Nelson several times, but I have not received no answer from him yet. We are having the best [time], and not hard if it was not for inspection, we would have the best time we ever had since we have been in the service. Stephen Bell is in good health . I believe Jarvis Nuttart is getting better fast, but he has had hard time of it . I send my respect to all girls and all inquiring friends. Receive the same your self this From your friend Ai Price To his friend Danny Hearon Direct to New Orleans, La. As you did before
