August Haron attempted to enlist in Company C, 9th Wisconsin Volunteer Infantry in September 1861, but was rejected by the surgeon due to chronic swelling in the knees. His name does not appear on the muster rolls. He was 23 years of age; 5' 8" tall; dark complexion; blue eyes; black hai; and a farmer born in Wurtenburg (Germany). There was an August "Harn" living in Oshkosh in 1857 who worked as a Mason, which could explain the chronic swelling of the knees. |
