Inventory of Effects of Deceased Soldier for Henry Dana Barden, Company E, 1st Wisconsin Volunteer Cavalry, He is described as having been born in Burtlington, Vermont, 20 years; 6' 3/4" tall; light complexion; gray eyes; auburn hair and a carpenter by trade. Died in the post hospital at Cape Girardeau, Missouri caused by a wound in right lung received at Whitewater Bridge April 24, 1863, died May 13, 1863. His father collected the $37.55 pay due Henry, along with his cap, jacket, overcoat, two blankets and some underclothing.
