Full standing view of Landsman Freeman D. Briggs, United States Navy, wearing dark blue uniform ; bell-bottom broad-fall trousers, jumper with embroidered star insignia on left sleeve, black silk neckerchief, and hat. There is no identification on the image, but Freeman is the only "Briggs" listed in the 1885, 1895, and 1905 Wisconsin census of Civil War veterans. Freeman served onboard the "Osage" and was living in Sherwood in 1885 and Rhinelander in 1895 and 1905. |
