Bust view Carte de Viste of Junior 1st Lieutenant James A. Briggs, 7th Wisconsin Battery, wearing officer's frock coat with fold down velvet collar and 1st Lieutenant's shoulder boards. Bridgeman enlisted as a private September 18, 1861 from Kenosha, reenlisted as a veteran, promoted to sergeant, Senior 2nd Lieutenant on May 2, 1864, and Junior 1st Lieutenant on April 18, 1865. He was captured at Memphis on August 21, 1864 in a raid by C.S. General Nathan Bedford Forrest. He mustered out July 20, 1865. The 7th Battery was raised in Milwaukee, saw service at Island Number 10, Humbolt Tennessee, Parker's Cross Roads, Gun Town Mississippi, Forrest's Raid on Memphis, railroad guard duty and garrison duty at Memhis, Tennessee. |
