Thumbprint view of Regimental Quartermaster Alexander Samuels, 5th Wisconsin Infantry, wearing officer's coat with with bars and velvet coallar, white shirt, tie, and military vest. Samuels enlisted in Company D at Beaver Dam (Fox Lake) on April 22, 1861, was promoted to Regimental Commissary Sergeant on October 1, 1862, and 1st Lieutenant and Quartermaster on May 15, 1863. He mustered out on August 2, 1864 at the expiration of his term of service. He is also listed on the roster of the 5th Wisconsin Infantry (Reorganized) as Regimental Quartermaster from September 5, 1864 through muster out on June 20, 1865. |
