Description Albumen print on Carte de Visite mount of Samuel White. MARKS: Back Mark: Bogardus, Photographer. 363 Broadway, New York; Inscription by Charles Nevitt: "Capt. Co. D 5th Wis. Inf. Died of wounds in Fredericksburg." Also inscribed, "Yours truly Samuel White."

Notes Albumen print on Carte de Visite mount. Three-quarter seated view of Captain Samuel White, Company D, 5th Wisconsin Infantry, wearing officer's frock coat. White enlisted from Beaver Dam on April 22, 1861 as Corporal in Company D, promoted to Sergeant, promoted to 1st Lieutenant January 21, 1862, promoted to Captain November 8, 1863, died of wounds received at Battle of Spotsylvania, in hospital at Fredericksburg, Virginia on May 20, 1864.
