Description Albumen print on Carte de Visite mount of Captain James Ordway. MARKS: Back Mark: Bogardus, Photographer. 363 Broadway, New York; Inscription by Charles Nevitt: "Killed while bravely leading his company on to victory at the Battle of Rappahanock Station Virginia, November 7, 1863."

Notes Albumen print on Carte de Visite mount, Thumbprint view of Captain James Ordway, Company D, 5th Wisconsin Infantry, wearing officer's frock coat. Ordway enlisted from Beaver Dam on July 1, 1861 as regimental Quartermaster Sergeant, promoted to 1st Lieutenant of Company D, Jan 21, 1862, promoted to Captain January 14, 1863, killed in action at Rappahannock Station Virginia November 7, 1863. The G. A. R. post in Beaver Dam was named in his honor.
