Half seated view of Captain Caspar Buechner, Company K, 26th Wisconsin Infantry taken in gallery, probably at end of war in Fond du Lac, Buechner is wearing an officer's frock coat with Captain's bars on shoulders. Enlisted in Company E from Fond du Lac on August 15, 1862 as sergeant, fought at Battle of Chancellosville, promoted to 1st Sergeant, wounded at Battle of Gettysburg, participated in Atlanta Campaign, March to the Sea, and Carolina Campaign. Promoted to 1st Lieutenant on May 3, 1864, promoted Captain Company K, February 11, 1865, mustered out June 13, 1865. |
